Winmalee High School has a very attractive library. It is shaped in the form of an octagon and has wide open spaces as well as rooms for quiet study. It was opened in 1989.
LIBRARY STAFF
The teacher librarian is Mrs Vassallo who is assisted by two school
assistants.
OPENING HOURS
The library is open between 8.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. every school day
(with the exception of Friday during recess when it is
closed).
THE LIBRARY COLLECTION
The collection is composed of a large number of books supporting the
extensive curriculum of the school. The audio-visual section is expanding
rapidly.
FACILITIES
The library is a split-level design. The reference and non- fiction sections are shelved on the top level. The fiction section and three quiet study rooms are on the lower level. There is one photocopier for use by students which is operated by a copy card (available for purchase in the library). The copier has a colour option which costs $2.00 for one A4 page. There are twenty four computers linked to the schools intranet and the internet. Banks of computers provide CDRom programs for word processing, typing tutorials, encyclopaedias and many others. Also the CDRom network has three networked encyclopaedias. The library catalogue is fully computerized and may also be accessed via the school's intranet.
